Review of Temple Grandin (2010) by Stacy C — 18 Feb 2011
Claire Danes is fantastic in the titular role. She is so believable here, it's insane. It's the true story of Temple Grandin, an autistic woman whose unique way of thinking revolutionized the cattle industry and the way slaughterhouses work. It's an ugly business but Grandin hinges on the belief that it doesn't have to be completely inhumane and brutal.
This film also makes me believe that autism is both a gift and a curse. They may suffer in their social interactions but intellectually and in terms of seeing things anew, autistic people are enviably brilliant and creative and this film highlights that very well.
