Review of Tell Your Children (1938) by Gaelan D — 06 Jul 2008
I can appreciate the irony surrounding this movie and the marihuana-inspired over(re)acting.
That being said the movie does raise questions and issues that remain sore in the context of general North American drug culture and the safe-ish havens of teenagerhood. This moments of accidental promise are muddied by the hamfisted black'n'white scare tactic.
For reasons I may explain later, I think that watching Fritz Lang's M would give you an idea of how well this movie could have been had it been designed with genuine social commentary in mind.
