Review of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (2023) by Killandkillary — 27 Aug 2023

Who are these people that are upset about this movie’s lack of fidelity to earlier iterations of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Why would anyone make a movie about zany cartoon turtles getting into hijinks for a demographic cohort that are now in their 30s and 40s? Of course this movie was retooled for members of Gen Z and younger! It’s a movie for kids! I’m old enough to have played with the action figures and to have watched the cartoons in the 90s and now I am at an age where this intellectual property is no longer relevant to me.

It’s kind of sad, in a way, but I think that’s just part of growing up. I’m giving this an obligatory 5 but, full disclosure, I didn’t actually watch this movie— I am in my 30s and have a life full of responsibilities and passions and meaningful relationships and carving out time to watch a movie very obviously not made for me would be short-changing myself.
