Review of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) by An T — 03 Feb 2015
So I watched this on the flight home to Seattle from Dallas (we were in New Orleans for the holidays,) and this was played on the movie player. Needless to say, I did watch it while using my phone at the same time. I have watched maybe one or two episodes from the 2003 and 2012 series, but I am not a fan of the series.
To start off, I think the plot was substantially unoriginal. Come on, how many times have we heard a plot of a guy trying to exploit someone to become wealthy? Also, the action scenes were mildly good, but seriously, the turtles face no challenge when the Foot Clan try to attack them; they basically just throw them like dummies. The only real physical damage they suffered was the fight scenes involving Shredder. The movie as a whole is predictable in general, though it plots a few twists, but not enough. If Nickelodeon and Paramount want to create a successful sequel, they need to create some interesting actions in the plot. For instance, within the first hour, we already know about the main characters in the film. Shredder could have been Jaws-like and have his identity not revealed until at least the fight with Splinter or his final battle with the turtles. The comedy is a bit off-pudding; Will Arnett might be a good comedian, but it's not enough for the lame jokes included in the film. The CGI could be improved also, although it's pretty realistic. Frankly, as a 14 year old, I'd rather watch the SpongeBob sequel than watch this again.
