Review of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014) by Andy G — 11 Aug 2015
I think this movie is quite underrated. I think the biggest problem people had was the design change, which I think is a shame because I think the designs were great. Yeah they're different than what you might be used to, but the older designs just wouldn't have worked great with the motion capture face capture system they used. Not only that, but with realistic CG, the old designs just wouldn't be believable anymore. They needed to update the design to something that believably made sense in reality. If there were mutated turtles that were big and strong, their appearance would probably reflect that. Aside from their design, yeah the story isn't the most spectacular thing in the world. In a sense, it's pretty much the same story as The Amazing Spider-man (2012), however, where the movie did great is in the depiction of the turtles themselves. I think they did a great job creating fun characters that really came alive with the motion capture CG, as well as a really awesome Shredder. Heck even Megan Fox did a decent job as April O'Neil. One thing though, I usually like Will Arnett in most things he does, but I didn't really care for him too much in this one.
74%.
