Review of Ted (2012) by Randy R — 17 Jul 2014
This is one funny movie. And I must admit, when I first found out that this movie was coming out, I wasn't to excited seeing as I am not a Family Guy fan, I loathe The Cleveland Show and while I do like American Dad, I have only seen a total of 27 episodes in the entire series.
So let's just say that Ted was starting off really poorly. But in this case, I was too quick to judge and when I saw the trailers for it, I was genuinely surprised at how much I was laughing and that raised my expectations up significantly.
And I can truly say that this movie met that and more. The story is a young boy who gets a teddy bear for Christmas and he wishes that he was alive. The next morning, his wish comes true. What happens afterwords is lifelong friendship that at times is tested as it spans into adulthood.
The script is sharp, witty and well rounded. You have characters who are fleshed out and you care for and on top of that, Mark Walhberg, Mila Kunis and Seth MacFarlane all deliver great performances and top notch comedic timing.
And Giovanni Ribisi is excellent as Ted's creepy fan. You could not ask for a better comedy that Ted. This is absolute gold.
