Review of Ted (2012) by Kendyl C — 18 Sep 2014
The comparisons to Family Guy aren't surprising since--on a completely unrelated note to both being by Seth MacFarlane--the story completely lacks any cohesion, the jokes are hit-or-miss, cringeworthy at its worst (MacFarlane's 'liberal' take on gay, race, and religious jokes become redundant after a while) and rib cage-crackling funny (Sinead O'Connor, ahem), and on an overall scale, it's certainly not as smart as it implies itself to be.
But let's not overanalyze it and act as if MacFarlane's take on the cliché bros-verses...girlfriends storyline--[SPOILER] the ending never officially solves that, anyway. That demographic of educated 30-somethings that know '80s and even early-noughties pop culture like it's the back of their hand should be more than satisfied.
