Review of Tears of the Sun (2003) by Don S — 20 Jul 2011
Bruce Willis is one of my favorite actors because he chooses roles like this: muti-faceted characters who grow and sometimes surprise with their actions. Make no mistake, this IS a war movie even though the US is not at war with Nigeria in this movie. However, the Nigerian rebels are at war with the tribes of their nation, attempting ethnic cleansing, and the atrocities of these actions are shown in stark realism (makes you want to puke that humans can treat each other this way). Well acted on all parts, well scripted, and a compelling story. The characters are not the same from beginning to end. Excellent movie experience.
