Review of Teaching Mrs. Tingle (1999) by John T — 23 Aug 2008
Now here's a movie that pleasantly surprised me. And yet it didn't seem to attract the teen buzz of the time that it really should have. A great shame too as Kevin Williamson's 'Teaching Mrs.
Tingle' is a delighfully clever comedy that is almost like a hybrid of 'Dawson's Creek' and 'The 'Burbs'! Helen Mirren clearly has a ball as Mrs. Tingle, the Wicked Witch-styled teacher who comes up against three teenage friends, giving way to moments of inspired mayhem and delicious black humour.
For Brat Pack fans, there's also the added bonus of 80's teen princess Molly Ringwald in a supporting role.
