Review of Taxidermia (2006) by Burqa B — 19 Apr 2008
I've seen films that have made me uncomfortable, wince and even jump occasionally, but not even Irreversible (a great if quite disturbing film itself), made me feel nauseous. Having said that, this is a film of wit and invention with a dark sense of humour, with a great take on that genre of US sports films.
The genetic relationship between the three main characters is not as straight forward as the synopsis suggests but adds to the theme of ambivilance in familial relationships and sexuality. It is a film that I would not recommend to the easily offended or upset and definitely not one to watch after eating but a good macbre arthouse film, far more distrubing than any of the current crop of shock-tactic horror flicks.
