Travis Bickle is an ex-Marine Vietnam war veteran staring in the mirror: "Are you talkin' to me?" It is the truest line in the film. Martin Scorsese 1976's masterpiece Taxi Driver is now considered to be the Greatest Film in the History of Cinema and Robert DeNiro acting performance routinely regarded today as among the best ever made.
Taxi Driver was Martin Scorsese's fifth feature film but became the one that profoundly elevated the then-33-year-old director to the top rank of American filmmakers. In May of 1976, the movie won the highest prize award Palme d'Or (Golden Palm) at the 29th Cannes Film Festival.
Nominated for 4 Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor (Robert De Niro) and received another 21 wins & 15 nominations.
