Review of Taxi Driver (1976) by Jordanlayton — 30 Apr 2020
"I mean come on, it's Scorsese" -someone who's only seen a couple of Scorsese films. Seriously though, I really liked it. We definitely watched it to prep for Joker and this film did not disappointing.
This film is just as, if not more, relevant now as it was on release. This portrait of transformation of a mentally unstable nice guy into a full-on incel is haunting without championing such a transformation as righteous.
You know Deniro's character has something wrong with him from the start. All it takes is one person to show him a supposed outlet for his anger and frustration. Because he lacks the capacity to distinguish said influence from others, he is drawn to it.
Give it a watch if you haven't seen it.
