Review of Taxi Driver (1954) by Jim F — 11 Sep 2012
While I try to come across as original and unique in my choice of personal favorite film, realistically I cannot. I can pretend, but deep down I know in my heart that this is my favorite film. A film I can watch over and over again.
A film with so many engaging pieces of dialogue that I never tire of watching. But mainly this is a movie that gives me comfort in those all too frequent periods of loneliness, anger, and hopelessness that frequent my daily life.
Being a driver by trade, I can relate to this character and his thoughts. Loneliness does follow me wherever I go. My days do blend together where nothing changes like one long continuous chain. And yes, the streets are full of filth and scum and I would like to see somebody flush it all down the fucking toilet.
This movie is a masterpiece.
