Review of Taxi Driver (1954) by Kenny N — 13 Feb 2015
A snapshot of a place (New York City) and a time (post-Vietnam '70s) and of "God's lonely man," the very definition of the idea "anti-hero." Travis Bickle elicits so many emotions: sadness for his lonesome nature, fear for his standoff-ish persona, and, ultimately, admiration for trying to make a difference in a world that just doesn't seem to care about anything anymore.
This is a film to be watched, studied, experienced, and interpreted based on each viewer's personal experiences. A film about a nobody for everybody.
