Review of Tarnation (2003) by Stephen G — 22 Aug 2008
I'm SO happy I saw this art film filled with lots of introspective thoughts and imagry brought together by old film, photos, video and audio of a young man's life of woe & mental illness and family history of it.
Documenting it in the fashion he (Jonathan Couette) has in this film is just a brilliant thing to see..hard to watch at times it's heart wrenching really, but also I thought very enlightening in several ways and innovative as can be.
To those that say the documentary was "self absorbed" it WAS about his family & life, an "autobiography"..so a little hard not to be (lol).
