Review of Tarnation (2003) by Tj O — 07 Dec 2009
I guess when you grow up a homosexual in a dysfunctional family in the 80s and 90s, indulging in your own hyper-theatricality becomes a defense mechanism. But defense mechanisms don't necessarily make good films.
I mean, don't get me wrong, Caouette's story is certainly tragic and at times compelling... but he puts it on display here with such melodramatic flair that it's kind of hard to take seriously at times.
Ah well.
