Review of Targets (1968) by Michael K — 14 Apr 2008
Even better the second time around for this Roger Corman backed debut. With Corman having three more days of work out of Boris Karloff, he gave Bogdanovich the opportunity to use Karloff along with some footage from the film that Corman had originally utilised Karloff for, The Terror.
What Bogdanovich produces is quite sensational. Targets rises above the schlock horror that Corman was expecting and delivers a piece of work that manages to cover the changing nature of cinema in America alongside the change in their society, whilst at the same time exploring minor themes surrounding cinema and the artists involved.
Very inventive and a must-watch if you haven't seen it before.
