Review of Tape (2001) by Emi V — 01 Sep 2006
A very slow paced Drama-Thriller. Based on a one act, three character play this film has good actors with the likes of Ethan Hawke. However the cast cannot save this movie. Very often the writing is slow and boring and confusing.
The quality is deliberately a little shoddy, it is a little annoying the wa it is shot, but I have seen much worse quality. jThe polt is interesting but the writing is quite boring. Despite the fforts at character development, there really isn't much.
Ethan Hawke is excellent as the gregarious party animal Vincent, while Ribert Sean Leonard is competent as his friend. This film could have been and should have been so much better than what it was. Overall this is a very mediocre effort from Richard Linklater.
