Review of Tape (2001) by Manny C — 01 Dec 2013
Tape marks but one in a long line of fabulous, thrilling film experiments from the great Texas-born director Richard Linklater, his follow up to the amazing Waking Life. Shot on beautiful high-definition video, this caustically funny and terrific adaptation of Stephen Belber's play is centralized in one grimy Michigan motel room where three characters, played by Ethan Hawke, Robert Sean Leonard and Uma Thurman--all bringing their A-games---reopen old wounds about a date rape.
The fallout of the single event plays out in a matter of minutes but the effects will leave you shaken.
