4 solid stars for being the most fun yet innocently homoerotic turn of the 90s action films ever made. I have to withhold one star simply because Patrick Swayze was up for the role of Cash, but had to pass in order to take the role of the legendary James Dalton in Roadhouse - thank the lord he did. Kurt Russel is no slouch and is easily the most likeable character in this film.
Stallone supposedly fired the director at one point because he wasn't getting enough lighting...but in Stallone's defense, we had a real lighting designer in our place tonight who upon watching 10 minutes of the prison breakout said h would have fired the lighting designer himself.
Regardless, you can make a drinking game out of the homoerotic over-tones of this film:
Drink if...
-Tango or Cash reference the other's genitals.
-Tango or Cash touch the other's genitals.
-Tango or Cash have a homophobic moment either with each other or with someone else.
-Tango or Cash dress in women's clothing.
-If a Yaz song is played.
-If Tango or Cash have their shirts off proximate to other men.
Finish your beer for the obligatory prison shower scene, and prepare yourself for full Tango and Ass shots.
It's hilarious and deserves all 4 of those shiny gay little golden stars!!
