Review:

I surprisingly, quite enjoyed this funny road movie. The chemistry between Sarandon and McCarthy was great and some of the scenes were really funny. It starts out with McCarthy losing her job and finding out that her husband is having an affair with the next door neighbour, so she decides to leave her dead beat town. As she doesn't have a car or that much money, her grandma, Sarandon, decides to go with her so she can fund her journey and supply her with a vehicle. From there, the movie turns into a fun road movie and the couple find themselves any many tricky situations along the way. Personally, I think the reason why I enjoyed the movie so much was because you don't know where McCarthy is going to take her comedy from one scene to the next. She really does push the boundaries, like in many of her previous movies, and the storyline had enough material to keep the movie interesting throughout. The director cleverly gave the characters some depth from the beginning of the movie and the mixture of comedy and drama was well put together. Anyway, it's not an all time classic, buts it's a road movie that has something for everyone. Enjoyable!

Round-Up:

Melissa McCarthy has really blown up at the box office since her cameo role in Bride Maids. I find her style of comedy a joy to watch, but I'm afraid that she is going to get pigeon holed like Jim Carrey and Ben Stiller, who hasn't made a decent movie for some time. Susan Sarandon looked like she should do for a lady who is nearly in her 70's, but once you take the make-up off, I honestly think that she is ageing extremely well. She has definitely proved that she can take on any role. From comedies like The Big Wedding and That's My Boy, which was crap, to serious roles in Dead Man Walking and Arbitrage, she has become one of the few actresses, like Meryl Streep, who are extremely versatile and you are always guaranteed a great performance. In this movie, you also had some small scenes with Dan Aykroyd and Kathy Bates, who are always a joy to watch, but they haven't taken on any big projects lately. .

Budget: $20million.

Worldwide Gross: $100million.

I recommend this movie to people who are into their comedies about a woman who loses her job and finds out that her husband is having an affair with her next door neighbour so she leaves her town with her grandma to get away from her troubles. 6/10.
