Review of Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006) by Jacob C — 23 Jan 2014
This is by far the best Will Ferrell movie ever. Talladega Nights is an amazing movie so unlike other comedies of this style. True, it is full of stupid, baseless humor, but I feel that the humor really matches the tone of the movie.
Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are hilarious as Ricky Bobby and Cal Naughton Jr., and Sasha Boren Cohen is perfect as the flamboyant racing rival Jean Girard. Cohen's French accent was terrible but I think that might have been intentional.
What I really liked about this movie was that it felt like it had a real story. That story of how Ricky Bobby rose to fame and success and had that snatched away from him by Jean Girard. Then Ricky had to pull himself back together to get behind the wheel and race one more time.
To me, that is what sets this movie apart. Another thing I say about Talladega Nights is that there is no short supply of product placement. This movie is great.
