Review of Talk to Me (2007) by J L — 16 Jun 2008
Ralph Waldo "Petey" Greene was the voice of a generation. The first radio dj to "tell it like it is" in the racially divided city of 1960s Washington DC. This story based on the life of Pete Greene as a hilarious, but poignant look at a man who made a name for himself, even though he was "just a con.
" His opening catch phrase "Wake up goddammit!" was not just an request to get out of bed, it was an exhortation to look at life with both eyes open. Don Cheadle brings Petey Green to life with all the fervor of the street preacher that Petey Greene never wanted to be, but ended up becoming.
A great film with fantastic performances.
