Review of Talk to Me (1996) by E F — 14 Feb 2008
There are some moving moments in the film, and it is a good story of friendship. Yet, albeit I don't know much about the real Petey Greene, it seemed that they showed what might be a caricature of him.
What I mean is that Cheadle's protrayal of Petey Greene looks at times like Tim Meadows' "Ladies Man." But I don't have problems with the acting. With Oscar-worthy performances in Hotel Rwanda and Crash, Don Cheadle could be one the best of his time.
It's just that the movie seems like it wants to show Petey Greene as loud and brash, but does not go much into how intelligent he probably was - given his accomplishments.
