Review of Dallas Buyers Club (2013) by E F — 18 Apr 2014
I hadn't heard that this went on in the early days of the AIDs epidemic. It was fascinating how this homophobic, womanizing, guy who likes to ride bulls and bet on rodeos, ends up being a huge and influential advocate for getting the best, most effective treatments for AIDs, albeit he does it in a black market, street hustler kind of way.
In the end, not only does he live years longer than the month a doctor said he would live, he befriends a transgender fellow AIDs patient and ultimately changes his whole attitude toward the community that was most affected by AIDs.
