Review of Talk to Her (2002) by Sarfaraz A — 13 Jun 2012
Hable Con Ella.
Dir: Pedro Almodóvar.
Amazing, stunning, fabulous, powerful and all those words best suitable to describe this ultra-unique film. Now this is what is called a grand screenplay, and earth-shaking direction from Pedro Almodóvar. Pedro deals with delicate and complex issues, in this glaring film. And I am truly amazed at simplicity that he uses to bring stories out of story and we never feel an urge to understand them more precisely, since everything is opening up before our very eyes. Entire cast deserves praise for brilliant performance, especially Argentinian actor Darío Grandinetti, when his eyes get wet in grief at some scenes, you should actually watch those eyes doing acting rather than Dario himself. There is short segment of 'Silent Movie' in this film, watching this scene a thought bubbled up in my mind with latest Oscar-winning film by Michel Hazanavicius 'The Artist'; it seems that Europeans have got far better grip on enlivening past glory.
Well, I saluted Pedro for making this priceless gem for us to get entertained and to realize that there is no end to excellence coming out of Spain.
