Review of Talk Radio (1988) by Patrick F — 31 Jul 2007
A fair film based on a good play that later (thanks to additions made by the film) became a great play. However, when the film digresses from the original play (which is often), it rarely works at all - ESPECIALLY when the characters leave the studio or are featured in a flashback (with AWFUL Howard Stern hair).
However, additions made by the film (which didn't work) somehow worked really well on stage when it premiered on Broadway this year. Not a great movie, but the moments that stay true to the play are pretty fantastic - it's worth seeing for those moments, despite the number of bad choices (I blame Oliver Stone).
