Review of Talk Radio (1988) by Dustin G — 10 Jul 2012
In the late 80's early 90's the radio was a hive of late night talk shows, very big and very popular, Including the hit television show "Midnight caller", which was released the same year as 'Talk Radio'.
Eric Bogosian is spot on as the rude but still intelligent host Bruce of 'night talk' radio show, which has become so big it is on the verge of national broadcasting, but can Bruce play by the roles to cross over to big time radio and please the sponsors.
'Talk Radio' came on the back of Oliver Stone's Platoon and is just as brilliant as his Oscar winning Vietnam war film, (In one of the many on air rants Stone cannot resist putting in a small knock at his obsessed American war).
The film has a good supporting cast, witty script, and a number of visual flairs which made Stone the man to beat at his peak.
Talk Radio is a great Thriller and a great showcase of the sign of the times in the late 80's.
