Review of Tales from the Crypt (1972) by Scott M — 10 Aug 2007
One of the best ever anthology horrors. Five strangers are lost in an underground crypt with no idea how they got there, when they meet a mysterious cryptkeeper who introduces a dark tale for each of them offering clues to what's going on.
It's a classic format and all the stories this time are terrific and really nasty. Particular favourites include a revenge plot involving blind people, a mad dog and a maze of razorblades, and a deeply disturbing one that has Joan Collins beseiged in a house on Xmas Eve by an escaped lunatic dressed as Santa Claus.
This is the horror anthology format at its strongest. Not the easiest film to find out there, but don't miss it.
