Review of Taking My Parents to Burning Man (2014) by Chris O — 04 Apr 2014
What a great film, funny, serious, poignant and just plain fun to watch. I've known lots of people who went to Burning Man but none who took their parents. These parents look like any other regular parents but they had enough of an open mind to embrace the adventure and support their son, with some realistic reservations.
The physical journey is full of the sort of humorous setbacks that you'd expect from a free-wheeling free spirit but the emotional and spiritual journey sneaks up on you during the film and adds substance.
The sister is so perfect as the balancing act in the family. This film is very well made--it's hard to believe this is the first film for these young filmmakers who have a great future ahead of them.
