Review of Taking Lives (2004) by J K — 17 Aug 2008

Here is what I liked about Taking Lives: Angelina Jolie as a serial killer profiler. Ethan Hawke playing a role you would not expect. Heart-stopping thrills and plot twists. Angelina Jolie naked without a body double. The cool-as-hell ending. Great acting by the three primary roles and decent cinematography.

Here is what I DIDNT like about it...

I had to watch the movie in English subtexts so I could understand what the French-Canadian policemen were saying. Not enough Kiefer Sutherland. Too slow to develop. Tries to be Se7en in writing but falls way short.

All in all a good thriller with some eroticism, but only an above average film. Needed more violence and twisted ideas.
