Review of Taking Lives (2004) by William M — 12 Jul 2009
A decent murder mystery for a while, but falls victim to a plot that falls apart in an effort to throw together too many twist endings.
Character wise, there are just too many holes. Illeana (Jolie) is a brilliant FBI detective that catches ever detail and Costa (Hawk) is the victim here (this part I can buy). But then, oh wait! Costa is the genius, and Illeana never sees it coming, and now she's the victim (already, I don't buy this part). Then we finally get to the end, and suddenly, Costa turns out of be an overconfident idiot, and Illeana is an over-dedicated patience super genius out for revenge! It's just not convincing.
Besides, the only thing the audience will remember is Angelina Jolie getting awkwardly screwed under homicide photos.
