Review of Takers (2010) by Peter B — 04 Mar 2011
The devil is in the details. In the right mood? Then this is a passable brainless "heat" wannabe. Yet what makes it nowhere near as good as it couldve been is the little things : annoyin repetitive background music literally alllll the time, slo mo and sad music just coz no doubt the director "finks its real kool", really bland performances by people phoning it in and a vibe that is taking itself waaay too seriously. Admittedly I was in a groggy weird mood when I watched it but a film of this kind should realistically actually alter a negative mood like that for the better. It did not. Thats the ideal test. Ya dont watch a documentary about depressing things when yoy've got a frown on, you watch a fun blockbuster or sumthin. So...A film like this should perk ya up, give ya a blast of fun escapsim, a good old caper with kick ass action scenes to brighten up the day!!!??? But no. It does not. Its a channel five on a thursday night kind of film. And all that that implies.
Altho Zoe Saldana does pop up. She fyne. This aint. Its "heat" for people with low attention spans.
