Review of Takers (2010) by Tina G — 15 Jun 2012
Pretty good, but definitely a rental. There are a few holes in the script, in regards to the characters back story and relationships, which causes problems with the characters motivation. Read: too many why left unanswered.
The acting also faulters because of bad directing. The story at times doesn't connect or seem plausible (ie; Traffic in L.A. should have been a character itself). TI is great as a bad guy. Idiris Elba is very solid as usual (check him out in THE WIRE, arguably the best TV show ever).
Probably could have saved a few dollars by not casting Ealy and Christenson. Brown and Walker were serviceable. The uber-talented Steve Harris as Matt Dillon's partner, or the protagonist that TI played, would have taken this film to another level, unfortunately that wasn't the case - Harris was confined to a cameo.
Bottomline, it was a great excursion, but I could have/should have waited for it to come to Netflix.
