Review of Taken (2008) by Christine C — 02 Apr 2013
Even the story had an uneven but effective mix of a James Bond flick (with less elegance and no gadgets), Daddy Dangerous and Traffic (but there change the drugs for sex traffic), which falls the movie's plot in originality, "Taken" success thanks to Liam Neeson's compelling leading act, no matter if he overshadows the rest, being the only spotlight of all the cast; that manages to make the film more valuable to see.
With a sharp and smart direction of Piere Morel, and the fast-pacing script that is functional at best, help to the unoriginal plot, which in some way become unique with the high-octane action scenes that doesn't take very many detours into the obviously necessary dad-daughter love and soul-searching melancholy between Neeson, Janssen and Grace. "Taken" is a contemporary thriller that had the enough thrills and surprises that the movie will be a success, even is not more smart and original than undeniably fun compared other action-thriller movies.
