Review of Taken 2 (2012) by Mloy X — 11 Aug 2013
Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson): Do you know how to shoot?
Kim (Maggie Grace): No.
Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson): Then drive!
This wasn't as dark as the original film, unfortunately also less interesting. Sadly, it's pretty ridiculous actually. Liam Neeson looks old and tired and the whole family angle is stupid. I would understand if the bad guys went after him, that plot is almost a given but to include his family just slowed things down. Maggie Grace was alright, she had potential to be a kick-ass sidekick for a minute in the film (especially after all she went through in the first film, you'd think her dad would at the very least given her a few pointers) but alas they dropped the ball on that front. Famke Janssen was terrible, should have left her completely out of the picture and opted for a new, better love-interest for Neeson. Overall, this was a really disappointing sequel and the writing so bad that there isn't even any remotely interesting, quotable lines. I cannot imagine why they would make another film after this (but apparently they are).
