Review of Taken (1999) by Mike I — 03 Feb 2014
It's a solid action movie. Liam Neeson may be the worst Jedi in history, but he is a badass ex-soldier. The story is simple; daughter is kidnapped by sex traffickers in Paris even though her dad, ex-spy Liam Neeson tells her to take precautions and be careful.
Neeson goes to Paris, rescues his daughter and in the process, enervates the white slave trade substantially, somewhat collaterally in fact as his main goal is to get his daughter back. The story itself gets from point A to point B very simply, and there are times when Neeson demonstrates that his character isn't bulletproof and can be caught up in his emotions.
It's not very deep but the action makes up for it.
