Review of Take This Waltz (2011) by Macky S — 25 Sep 2012
Take This Waltz is about three people Margot (Michelle Williams) who is married to Lou (Seth Rogen) and also gets involved with Daniel (Luke Kirby) a rickshaw driver who lives across the street. Sarah Silverman plays Geraldine, Louâ(TM)s alcoholic sister, whom you see occasionally in the film.
Take This Waltz is one of my favourite films of the year so far. The acting in this film is amazing. I said in my Meekâ(TM)s Cutoff review that Michelle Williams is my favorite actress of all time, so I was really excited to see her in this film. She didnâ(TM)t disappoint and I think she should at least get an Oscar nomination. Seth Rogen was excellent as Lou, Luke Kirby was good, and Sarah Silverman was a big surprise, as she was really, really good in this film.
Sarah Polley is a great director. The shots in Take This Waltz are so beautiful, especially one where Michelle Williams and Luke Kirby go swimming at a deserted pool and another one where Michelle Williams and Luke Kirby go to CNE, on a ride. The lights are flashing on their faces and thereâ(TM)s loud music playing and no talking. You just watch them on this ride until it stops. Sarah Polley also wrote the film and I thought she did a great job on that too, while I was watching the film there were a couple of moments where I was worried they were going to end it too soon, but they didnâ(TM)t which I was happy about. Take This Waltz is a magnificent film and you should definitely see it.
