Review of Take This Waltz (2011) by Roni A — 28 Dec 2012
As my husband pointed out, this film is about an age-old topic, which he found not that interesting, but well-done if it had to be done once again. I, on the other hand, never tire of this topic and also loved the movie.
Every time I see Michelle Williams in a film, I love her more each time and am awed by her acting ability. While I think Seth Rogen wasn't the best choice for the husband role, he did pretty well.
Luke Kirby, her temptation, played the role very well indeed, surprisingly well. He was even borderline creepy but perfectly so. If you want to be completely engaged in a film about marriage, temptations and depression, but not done in an overtly dark manner, see this film.
It is ultimately dark, but very realistic and doesn't make you want to totally give up on love.....although it suggests looking inward rather than outward for the problem.
