Review of Take Shelter (2011) by Andres B — 04 Sep 2012
Interesting film, not sure what it's purpose is though, because it's obviously not a conventional thriller, so it definitely felt like it wanted to make you think, but about what? Being alone? Psychosis? Schizophrenia? Paranoia? I think the main reason I gave it a high rating is because the final 20 minutes are incredible and beautifully shot. The performances are also outstanding. Jessica Chastain is quickly becoming one of the actresses to be at the moment.
What I also enjoyed is the presence of the family throughout the movie. Every one of the family members in the film would absolutely die for the other. they stick together the entire time, no matter how crazy things get, which makes the final scenes in the shelter and then in the beach all the more powerful.
