Review of Take Shelter (2011) by Paul R — 18 Feb 2017
A stand out contender for one of the best films to come out of 2011. A slow burn and stunning look into a Father suffering from troubling visions. Are these visions of the future? or is he suffering from a mental illness? Shannon gives further clout to an already quality film.
His performance is his best ever. The film carries huge emotional weight and as we get more involved with Curtis' dilemmas it makes it more difficult to swallow. If Curtis' visions are real, It's bad.
If not, then they are due to mental illness. Powerful, Hauntng and has real lasting effect.
