Here is a frightening thriller based not just special effects but on a dread that's quietly spreading in our land: That good days are ending, weather and climate changing, and other sinister forces sweeps away our safety.
"Take Shelter" stars Michael Shannon who plays Curtis LaForche, who lives in a small town in Ohio and quite life being a crew manager for construction and is a stable father and husband. He has all he needs to be happy. He fears he might lose it. His wife (Jessica Chastain) is worried and a little bit concern for Curtis when starting to have weird visions that turn into nightmares like getting bitten by the family dog for example or his house falling down. He keeps those dreams to himself, all those dreams are channeling his anxiety into building a storm shelter. Could these dreams be true that an apocalyptic storm is coming and Curtis is going to keep his wife and daughter (Tova Stewart) who is deaf safe.
Writer/director Jeff Nicholas, who worked with Shannon before in Shotgun Stories has given a gift to Shannon who is a gifted actor a dark poem that is complex with a combination of drama and terror. "Take Shelter" should earn Shannon a Oscar.
