Shmeh. That's what I have to say about this one. It was a very typical: boy likes girl, girl doesn't notice guy, guy lies to get girl, girl falls for it, guy gets girl, girl finds out lie and gets pissed, guy loses girl, guy somehow magically gets girl back.

The only thing different about this one was that it took place in the 80s. I will admit, that part was fun. With the big hair, shoulder pads, popped collars, and a great 80s soundtrack, it was pretty funny.

Topher Grace was basically Eric Cartman a decade later, but that didn't make him any less charming. Anna Faris was HUGELY underused. She is hilarious and she was stuck as the twin sister, which was honestly the most dramatic part of the movie as she tries to decide which direction she wants to go with her life.

Dan Fogler as the stock idiot best friend was funny at times, annoying at others, and Teresa Palmer as Tori, the girl, is good, not amazing. Not really her fault, there is just not much you can do with the character besides be pretty and oblivious.

However, this movie is not a complete wash. There is a theme of not knowing what you want to do with the rest of your life, a thing everyone struggles with at some point. That angle helps it become slightly more of a coming of age story as well as the typical romcom.

So, if you like romcoms, go for it, you will like it. If you're not, stay far away.
