Review of Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War (2004) by Joe P — 24 Mar 2008
After some three years of first hearing of this movie, I finally decided to rent it off Netflix and I wish I watched it sooner! It really does get down to how ugly and gruesome combat is, esp. during the Korean War.
If you can get beyond the gore-factor (which they weren't holding back on, that's for sure!) and convenient timing/placement of things (whether it be a machine gun or Young-shin Kim), it really is a great yet tragic film.
Besides the aforementioned gore, the only other reason I wouldn't recommend watching this movie is if you're in a good mood and don't want to lose it.
