Review of Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War (2004) by Alex K — 04 Nov 2007
Easily the greatest war movie ever made. But more important than that it is a story about love. About two brothers, torn apart by a war. It shows us how war can change us, and that there really are no good guys or bad guys.
The movie is by no means patriotic, or tied to one perspective, as throughout the film atrocities are committed on both sides. It borrows heavily from Saving Private Ryan, though, it uses what Spielberg created, and used it to make a much better movie.
Through the cinimatography, through the indescribably beautiful music, and through the horrific violence, comes one of the top five movies I have ever seen.
