Review of Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War (2004) by Alexander L — 01 Dec 2007
"Brotherhood" differs nicely from average Hollywood war movies: it does not depict brave heroes fighting against the evil forces of communism or nazism... Here, Koreans fight, torture and kill each other, and you can't tell, who's "good" or "bad".
It is also the sad story of two brothers starting as South Korean soldiers and eventually confronting one another as enemies. As mentioned before, what makes B. different from other war movies is the extreme violence and sadness.
.. but that's probably the way war is.
