Review of Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War (2004) by Matt O — 15 Feb 2008
Got to agree with many of the other comments, this is probably one of the finest war films ever made. The relationship between the brothers Jin-tae and Jin-seok is explored very powerfully. The depiction of both sides within in the war is very even-handed and the horrors of war displayed really well. The battle scenes are just incredible, it's amazing to think they pulled this off for less than $13m.
Towards the end it does get slightly beyond belief but you've been so drawn in by the rest of the film you can forgive this small fault.
