Review of Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War (2004) by Brian Y — 26 Mar 2009
A pretty decent film that covers all the major elements of the Korean War driven by a plot of two brothers serving in the South Korean side.
I actually found the gore to be even higher in this movie than Hollywood versions of war to show just how much the Korean War sucked in numerable ways for the Korean people. It was just as bad as World War 2, except isolated to one country in an ideological civil war.
Definitely worth checking out if you want to see some of the best movies Korea has to offer and see a great movie about the Korean War.
As a bonus it features all the usual plot devices a Korean movie could offer: happy start, some kind of tragedy, a touch of dramatic overacting, and a flashback to the happier start.
