Review of Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War (2004) by Thomas H — 14 Jul 2009
Well shot and acted, the thing is that I've seen tens of war sequences just like this, but way better. The biggest flaw is really it's last half hour or so, where it just gets way, way over the top and pretty much destroys whatever character development they established (which wasn't exactly subtle to begin with).
It might be the first time I've seen such a nuance in good/evil people in an Asian film though, but it's not exactly new if you've seen the hundreds of war movies done in Europe or North America in the last 30 years or so.
It's an 'ok' movie, decent but left me very disappointed in its cheesy ending.
