Saw it hours ago. Eros Maniakos indeed. From the ancients to Archimandrite Aimilianos (The Way of the Spirit-The Convent of the Annunciation, Ormylia, 1st edition, 2009), monks and nuns in the desert of Egypt and the Holy Mountain at Simonopetra would like this movie I think.
They understood and understand to this day a heart gone nutso in devotion to the beloved. I don't have a clue what she saw in her man, a bland Mormon she met cruising the street in her red corvette, he in his corvette alongside, but Joyce McKinney sold me on her devotion to love.
Monk/nun like for sure. Go to this flick with a friend and you'll come home talking for hours. Hats off to Errol Morris for making us think.
